100 Mile Leadville MT Bike Race
The Famous Powerline
Joe & Tim Waggoner Chatting at the Start
Joe Berg has always been an active person; but, in college he pushed himself into endurance sports - partly as a way to spend more time with his brother and partly to conquer a new challenge. Now, 15 years later, he has won the title of Leadville Silver King 2011 and set his sights on becoming a Leadville Leadman in 2012.
Becoming a Leadville Leadman is no easy feat. The race distances are extreme and all the events start and finish at elevations above 10,000 feet. Joe will start his journey with a marathon on June 30th. On July 14th, he will race his mountain bike 50 miles in the Leadville Silver Rush, then turn around the next morning and run the identical 50 mile trail course. After a brief "rest" he will get up on August 11th and race the Leadville 100 mile mountain bike race, followed by a 10k run the next day. Six days later, he will complete his journey with the legendary Leadville 100 mile trail run. In this 7 week period, Joe will run 182 miles and bike 150 - and that's just on the race days. He will also spend countless hours training and Addaero will be there every step of the way, helping him balance his training with his other goals.
JOE BERG DISCUSSES THE LEADMAN
See, Joe may have larger than life racing goals, but he's still the everyday athlete he was in college - balancing training with his other life goal - spending as much time as he can with his family, now expanded to include a wife and two young boys.
Joe finds his balance by waking up as early as 3am and donning his head lamp to run and bike through the dark and quiet streets so he can devote the rest of his day to his family and the part of his career that doesn't involve cycling and running. He uses Addaero to schedule his workouts, track his progress, and ensure he stays on track to meet all his goals. You can track his progress and cheer him on at his blog, Run, Motivate, Inspire!
If this "Average Joe" can do it, so can YOU. Try Addaero and start reaching your goals today!
